Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T) Backup Architecture

echoMountain utilizes a three-tier architecture for disk-based and tape based backup methodologies that offers a flexible, hierarchical approach. Disk-to-Disk should not be seen as a direct tape replacement; rather as part of a multi-tiered backup architecture that takes advantage of the best features of both tape and disk that provides an enhanced backup infrastructure. While disk backup can protect your business data, it can still leave critical data at risk. Disk based backup is only truly effective when combined with a multi-tiered storage hierarchy which includes Disk-to-Tape (D2T) backup architecture with an automated tape library.

Disk-to-Disk (D2D) Backup with Network Attached Storage (NAS)

echoMountain utilizes a highly available Media Server utilizing RAID-5 technology for the ultimate protection of your D2D backups. Our media servers have redundant power supplies and are connected to a network backup local area network with multiple 1Gbps connections to ensure fast and efficient backups of your servers. Backups can be performed to meet your requirements at intervals of every 30 minutes, every hour, four times daily, twice daily, or daily. Backups are retained for 30 days. If you subscribe to our Disk-to-Tape (D2T) Backup with Off-Site Data Protection, all backups generated each day are backed up to tape and then weekly archived off-site.

Bare Metal Disaster Recovery Option

Decrease your downtime and eliminate the manual recovery of your operating system and applications. Through the use of bootable CD, DVD or HP OBDR-compatible tape devices, echoMountain can quickly and easily restore your computer system to the point of your last backup providing a fast restore with fewer steps to recovery. Bare Metal Disaster Recovery is available with either the Disk-to-Disk (D2D) or Disk-to-Tape (D2T) backup options.

Service & Pricing

• Pricing is based on 30 day retention period of backups. Additional retention periods may be purchased in 30 day increments
• Pricing is based on 25GB of total backup space allocated for retention. Additional storage space may be purchased in 25 GB increments. Total retention space includes all backups in a 30 day retention period.
• Backup configuration and data restoration from backups will incur a Professional Services Fee billed in quarterly hour increments based on actual services performed.
