 Network Diversity and Performance

With echoMountain's high performance network service, your application infrastructure can take advantage of the convenience, flexibility and reach of the internet seamlessly connecting to customers, suppliers, employees and busienss partners. By routing over redundant, high-speed 1 Gbps connections to all major internet backbones, our high-performance network service provides highly reliable robust delivery of your content, applications and communications throughout the Internet.

Our network has been engineered from the ground up to accommodate the high demands of the mission-critical systems we manage. Our Zero-Downtime Network has unique self-healing attributes that allows us to deliver a 100% infrastructure availability guarantee. Our architecture is redundant in every element, from edge routers to core switches. In the event that one of these components should fail, the redundant network device will pick up the functionality without interruption of service.

Our network architecture utilizes redundant high-performance Foundry Network BigIron RX routing switches connected to our backbone providers. These routing switches provide high availability features for maximum network uptime by providing carrier class reliability and redundancy. These switches provide wire-speed non blocking core performance with a maximum total switching capacity of 960 Gbps that power a world class network, delivering more than 100 times the performance of today's switches and routers.

Our network is fully meshed and redundant with 7 premium backbone providers using GigE connectivity and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) from multiple divers routes running Internap's route-control technology which considers path characteristics like latency, packet loss, route stability and congestion when making routing decisions. Decisions are made dynamically and automatically to account for network performance changes, without the need for manual intervention. Our backbone providers are:

Our Service Level Agreements (SLAs) provide our customers reliable performance. Guaranteed North American Performance Metrics are:

  • 100% Network Availability
  • Less than 45 ms latency
  • Less than 0.3% packet loss
  • Less than 0.5 ms jitter
 1 Gbps Redundant Ethernet Connectivity for Customer Servers

Our customer network layer utilizes multiple redundant Foundry Network Big Iron RX-4 routers that provide best-in-class routing. Our security layer provides redundant Cisco PIX firewalls to protect our network and our customer's application infrastructures. Most collocation providers do not include firewall, VPN and Intrusion Detection and Protection services as part of their customer network layer. Our internal network utilizes redundant Gigabit Switches supporting Foundry Networks Enhanced Virtual Redundant Routing Protocol (VRRPe) which provides automatic router backup and 100% uptime SLA.

Each customer server is connected with dual networks ports to separate switches using Cat-6 high performance cabling. Each switch is connected to separate diverse routers, providing full IP routing redundancy. Each customer is provisioned a separate VLAN providing traffic isolation and security.
